"incredibly charming hotel located in a very small and old village, very well preserved and full of atmosphere. The Aveyron region, famous for the blue cheese Roquefort, is very interesting for castles, old villages and nature. If you can, visit also the Perigord and his old small city Sarlat." (97100251)

From arrival to departure, all the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room was nicely decorated, spacious and spotlessly clean. The choice and quality of the food was excellent. A stay at Les Magnolias is a great experience and outstanding value for money." (97756692)

"We had a four night stay in October 2006. The hotel was of a very high standard, possibly the best hotel we've stayed in. We had a superior room which was very large and spacious and well equipped. The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The eating areas, along with the food, were excellent. A truly memorable experience and we would fully recommend this hotel and we shall certainly return there some time." (3305257058)

Very high standard of decoration/fixtures and fittings. Exceptionally clean. Spacious well equipped bedroom and bathroom and lovely public areas.

Although there was a mirror in the bedroom, this was very small. We would have appreciated a full length mirror. But that's being pickey!

The rooms and hotel are decorated and finished to a very high standard and are completly in keeping with the character of the building. It is immaculately kept. The food and wine were excellent and it was all extremely reasonably priced. If you want complete peace and quiet in a very comfortable hotel with excellent service and food at relatively little cost then you should stay at this hotel." (3305127841)

Quiet location, beautifully renovated, tastefully decorated rooms and with an excellent restaurant both for dinner and breakfast, and with attentive staff. The room with breakfast was exceptional value, and it was good to find such a good restaurant that would supply a pichet of wine rather than a pricey half bottle." (3305007866)

Location, external appearance and quality of room decor

Rubber under sheets and lack of air conditioning, made for a hot night which required open windows, and church bells which rang twice around the hour made for some sleep interuption.

The garden was furnished with comfortable loungers under the shade of huge trees, magnolias of course and a chestnut or two. The food was excellent and menu very flexible indeed. All the staff were extremely friendly and created such a relaxed atmosphere." (3305048952)

Spacious and uncluttered. In keeping with the area.

Parking could be a slight problem but we used one space quite close by, otherwise there was some space a short walk away.

"We really enjoyed our stay at Hostellerie des Magnolias. The facility is located in a small village in a very beautiful part of southern France--very hilly and very rural, but close enough to many interesting sites. The hotel is fully modernized, but retains the charm of an old manor. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely wonderful." (3304627424)

Hostellerie des Magnolias was a wonderful facility combining the charm of an old manor with the comfort of a fully modernized room. The dining experience was exquisite, both in terms of the food and the ambiance of the terrace dining area and the traditional dining room.

Nothing. Perhaps air conditioning in our room would have been nice.

Beautiful old manor right in the middle an isolated, but easy to find, quiet village. Unobtrusive but quick service. Superb room with up to date modern bathroom with power shower. Neat alleyway view from the window. Use of the (excellent) village swimming pool offered immediately.

The food didn't quite live up to the menus description! Rather than trying to be nouveau, they would be better reverting to good lod fashioned french country cooking, but I emphasise this did not spoil the stay one bit, and I would certainly go back.

"The Active Hotels confirmation of our booking was very quickly followed up with a personal e-mail from the hotel further confirming the booking and giving some detail of the room reserved for us. As we had booked quite close to our arrival date, this was useful and afforded additional peace of mind. We stayed in a pleasant, good sized room with a large and comfortable bed and a spacious well equipped bathroom. The staff gave us a good welcome and were friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. Each member of staff that we met had some command of English and were understanding and helpful in dealing with the limited French of all their English guests. The food was excellent with a choice of set menus. The attention to customer service was such that off menu dishes were offered to people staying more than a few days. The hotel is an oasis in an otherwise fairly uninteresting village. It provides excellent value for money and a good base from which to explore the southern part of Aveyron and the adjoining Tarn departement." (3304894563)

"We found the town to be pleasant, but small. So would recommend a one or two night stay - maybe not a whole week. No Airconditioning - so maybe take one of those little battery operated fans with you if you can. I thought this hotel was definate value for money at 45 Euros for a double room. A really pretty french hotel - highly recommend it." (3304927906)

The hotel was very easy to find and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. We went for a meal at the restaurant the evening we arrived. Food was delicious. For a fussy eater I found the menu had a very good range of meals. Opted for the lamb which turned out to be an excllent choice. I knew very little French, and the waitress new very little english, but we managed and the service was excellent. Meals are served in the courtyard, or inside the hotel - it was a hot night so we sat in the lovely courtyard. Overall I thought this hotel was brilliant and definately would go back.

Only one thing about the room that I was a bit dissappointed about- there was no air conditioning - the weekend we stayed it was 40 degrees - the room was like an oven. Opened the window - but no wind at all that day. When having the meal flies and wasps seemed to appear from nowhere, which was a bit annoying - but that's outwith the hotel's control.

Plaisance is small and very quiet, and I do not think that there is anywhere else to eat except for the hotel and 1 snack bar, although the hotels food was superb. One other thing the staff were German could speak good English and were outstanding." (3304542565)

"It was too quiet, we went end of April and on the first night were the only two people staying there. We thought the menu was very limited but this may have been only because it wasn't yet high season and the wine was very expensive (ask for the half litre of house wine if on a budget) and there is absolutely nothing to do in the immediate area, so you must have use of a car. The staff were all very helpful" (3304437768)

The hotel had a lovely rustic feel to it ( apparently it is 14th century) the breakfast room is beautifully bright and spacious and the dining room is very cosy with it's exposed beams and old brickwork and stone floor and the bedroom had the same open stonework

    All good

"The hotel is beautiful, and located in an equally beautiful rural setting. The rooms are spacious and very well appointed, with stone walls which give a flavour of the original building. Plaisance is in a lovely part of France, not unbearably far from Toulouse airport (less than 2 hours' drive), and very close to the gorgeous high plateaus of Southeast France. There are a number of attractive towns nearby, and some amazingly well preserved medieval villages. So it is an ideal location for a multi-day break, with plenty to see if you want to explore, and extremely peaceful local surroundings if you just want to stay close to the hotel and relax. The staff who run the hotel and its restaurant are simply fantastic. We arrived very late at night, and they stayed up to wait for us, and had prepared a cold meal for us to eat in our rooms -- and at an extremely reasonable price. The restaurant offers very high quality cuisine, again at a very reasonable price. The staff speak French, German, and English fluently -- for all I know they may be fluent in several more languages, so communications are always smooth and easy. When we booked the hotel there was a special offer going, so our stay was unbelievable value for money. But even at the full price a stay at Les Magnolias is well worth it. We would without question stay there again and unreservedly recommend it to friends." (3304169782)

Pretty much everything: the spaciousness of the rooms; the beauty of the local village and surrounding countryside; the beauty of the buildings; and the excellent service provided by the hotel management and staff.

The area around the Hotel is scenicallly stunning with plenty to do and see. The resturant is very good with a superb 32 Euro 5 course menu. Good local Wines and local produce are a big plus for using this hotel" (3304386852)
